PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Big Water Road intersects US 29 at approximately 38 degrees and it has been requested to realign the intersection prior to the development of a new marina. Early coordination was started with SCDOT as US 29, a segment of Big Water Road, and S-180 (Ginn Road) are SCDOT-owned and would require an encroachment permit.
The project required new right-of-way and the acquisition is complete. Final construction plans have been completed and the SCDOT encroachment permit and SCDHEC land disturbance permit < 1 acre have both been approved. The specification package is complete. The project was advertised and the bid opening held in September. Construction was completed in early 2020.
The project also involved resurfacing approximately 1,100 LF which was included within the bid package as part of the bid schedule and specifications.
RESPONSIBILITIES: As a major sub-consultant, J. Bragg Consulting, as Project Engineer and Design Lead, provided the roadway and drainage design, other project/plan details and sheets, project specifications and supplemental technical specifications, construction cost estimate, SC DHEC Notice of Intent for land disturbance, right-of-way exhibits, and coordinated with the subconsultants on their respective tasks.
